Where Can You Fit Roman Blinds?

Where Can You Fit Roman Blinds?

The Roman blinds we craft by hand here in Yorkshire work superbly in many rooms throughout the home. Well suited to living rooms in particular, they warm up your chosen decor and with the right colour choice, coordinate with furniture and soft furnishings alike. For smaller rooms, Roman blinds will sit neatly inside the window recess, not taking up valuable space. For greater rooms with larger windows, these blinds can be easily partnered with curtains for a three-dimensional look.

Additionally, Roman blinds are a brilliant choice for bedrooms, making them warmer, cosier, and more comfortable. For maximum results, consider a blackout lining, which helps to block out all sunlight, in turn providing a more restful night's sleep.

How To Measure For Roman Blinds

How To Measure For Roman Blinds

Once you've selected your item, then comes the exciting moment to order your Roman blind. At this point you'll be given two selections for the fitting type - recess and exact. These options correlate with where in your window your blind will hang.

Inside Recess (RECESS SIZE)This measurement is required if your Roman blind is to fit inside the recess of the window. For accuracy, measure the drop and width from three different positions ensuring you supply the smallest measurement. Also, make sure the brackets are well enough away from the window so as to not hit any of its handles. From there, our team will make the required deductions, ensuring the blind fits perfectly within the recess of your window.

Outside Recess (EXACT SIZE)The Exact size measurement is required for blinds that will hang outside the recess and overlap your window. Decide how much to overlap the recess at both sides, we recommend a minimum of 7.5cm each, as well as the top and bottom. Similarly to recess measurements, measure the width and the drop in three separate positions ensuring you provide the smallest measurement. If you're concerned about measuring your blinds, you can always choose the benefits of our Surefit guarantee, for total peace of mind.

Grey Roman blinds - The elegant shape of a Roman blind puts it in a great position to work with many design themes. For extra flexibility, many customers select a grey colour that keeps the blinds chic and fashionable without becoming too loud. For further inspiration surrounding this diverse colour, you can learn more about colours to go with grey on our blog

Natural Roman blinds - Natural tones are warming and calming alike. They are supremely versatile too. Whether you're decorating your space in a Scandi, Traditional or Contemporary theme, these cool creamy colours will enrich a range of other colours found around the home. To achieve the best effects, consider partnering your cream Roman blind with a matching cushion.

Patterned Roman blinds - Owing to their inherently flat surface design, Roman blinds are the perfect choice for pattern. Whether you're looking for groovy geometrics, awesome animals or scenes from the sea, we have you covered.

Are Roman Blinds Easy to Clean?

Are Roman Blinds Easy to Clean?

Cleaning your new Roman blind will depend on the type of fabric selected. All our fabrics come with different advice for cleaning, and if you are ever unsure, seek advice from a trusted dry cleaner.

Ordinarily, to keep your Roman blind looking beautiful - and functioning well - it will require regular light cleaning.

To remove dust and dirt, use your vacuum's soft brush attachment on its lowest setting. Open your Roman blind fully and start by brushing the front gently from top to bottom, concentrating on the edges of the fabric. The edges often collect more dust. Don't vacuum the back of your Roman blind as cords may become tangled and damaged.

Why Are Roman Blinds More Expensive than Other styles?

Why Are Roman Blinds More Expensive than Other styles?

The soft fabric nature of Roman blinds, plus their complex construction, means they are often more expensive than roller, vertical and other blind styles. Additionally, when they are custom made to seamlessly fit your windows, as ours are, they require many more skilled manufacturing hours.

All that said, the long-term benefits of a high-quality Roman blind far outweigh the price, and you can rest assured that your brand-new Romans will look great and remain perfectly functional for years to come.
