2023 is almost here and we hope you’ve been enjoying a peaceful start to the new year. Before the return to work however, we wanted to share with you our trend predictions for 2023 and which styles we can’t wait to see more of in the next 12 months. Let’s get into it!

A cascade of colour

2023 is going to be a spectacular year for exciting colours coming to the fore!

Firstly there are dark, emerald greens. Evolving from the popular sage greens of the past 12 months, emerald green is a more saturated tone that’s equally refreshing yet a little bolder and studious. If this colour speaks to you, look for dark emerald velvet curtains, green velvet Roman blinds and soft accessories.

Warming colours are also predicted to grow in popularity next year. From rich terracotta shades to deep moody reds and red/purple berry tones, these warming colours are perfect for all the seasons of the year! Consider roller blinds, lamp shades and pattern curtains for introducing warmer shades.

Finally, for something a little more energising, electric blue is expected to be very popular in 2023. Inspired by all things tech, use small pops of electric blue, especially in geometric patterns

Pure white is back

The perfect backdrop for the colours listed above, pure white is expected to make somewhat of a resurgence next year. Where off white has been popular in recent years, the purer shades are coming back to help your bolder colours pop and shine.

Soft fabrics used in accessories including lamp shades and cushions are perfect vehicles for pure white, especially since there seems to be a return of sculptural white lamps on the horizon. You can also look to white voiles for a gentle splash of cool sophistication…

For something a little more rigid, pure white wooden blinds will be extremely chic next year. In addition to their elegant style, wooden blinds from Blinds Direct are made from material sourced only from responsibly managed forests. While we don’t recommend using natural wood in moisture rich areas, the good news is that you can use pure white faux wooden blinds to add the stylish benefits of pure white within your kitchen or bathroom

Natural tones remain

Natural tones will remain a fashionable option throughout the year, however they’re likely to shift to the darker side of the spectrum.

Contrasting the chic whites that are in the ascendancy, black will be a great colour to enjoy next year. Allowing you to create a sophisticated monochrome palette when paired with white, black will also look great with many of the warmer shades referenced earlier in this blog.

Moving slightly away from the darkest extreme, brown is a neutral tone set to make a 2023 comeback. We recently covered this warming and dynamic colour in our Shades Of Brown blog.

Finally, cream will remain at the cutting edge of interior design. Warm yet restrained, cream shades can help you build a range of popular design trends from Scandi to contemporary monochrome – especially when mixed with anthracite grey!

Comfortable cocooning

Shifting from colours to broader themes, cocooning will be popular, especially during the colder months of the year.

When it’s cold and all we want to do is hibernate, cocooning is a fantastic way to make a space soft, cosy and welcoming. It’s a trend for blanket, throw and cushion lovers around the world. That said, you don’t have to disregard style when making a cosy cocoon for yourself!

Heavy fabrics, soft materials and warming country inspired patterns will help you relax in style and battle the colder weather. Even in summer, these items will remain trendy!

To really help battle the elements, consider adding specially lined curtains or Roman blinds to your windows. At Blinds Direct, we offer free thermal lining upgrades so you can relax in comfort and warmth for no additional cost.

Heritage prints at home

In the past few months and even years, cottagecore has become and remained a popular interior design trend. A popular offshoot from this is the return of heritage prints.

With patterns inspired by vintage prints such as william morris wallpaper, or classic Delft tiles from the Netherlands, exploring print and pattern will return to fashion. That said, quality patterned tiles and wallpaper can incur significant costs, however, you can capture their magic using more affordable home furnishings.

From neat roller blinds to sweeping curtains, plump cushions to slim lamp shades, there are a great many ways to enjoy heritage prints at home. We offer a fantastic selection of patterned fabrics which can be used across different styles of furnishing – for example you can have patterned curtains and cushions made to match!

To help you find the perfect heritage print for your home, you can order up to eight free samples from the website.

New romantic details

Beyond cherubs, hearts and chocolates, romanticism is an aesthetic style which you can enjoy within the home.

This trend is centred around soft powder pinks, frills and at its core a cosy atmosphere. It’s a way of making a space stylish with a touch of fun and whimsy, afterall, super sleek isn’t to everyone’s taste.

To enjoy romantic details, consider floral patterns, jacquard prints and soft tones of pink, green and off white. You can then use pops of richer colours for depth and excitement.

For the windows, mix sleek recess fitted wooden blinds with curtains suspended from above the widow. By making the space feel more cosy, and by using the right colours, you can make a super chic romantic space. For the final touches, add a metallic inner to your lamp shades. If you use reds and pinks, gold is the best, but if you’ve got lavenders or greens, nothing can quite beat cool silver.

Mediterranean style

With every new year starting with colder weather, our imaginations often drift to those warmer climates. Next year, you can find fashionable design inspiration from the Mediterranean world.

This is a trend filled with chic whites and soft blues, quality tiles and the smooth, soft shapes enjoyed in that part of the world for millennia.

This trend ties in perfectly with many of the other trends we expect to see in 2023. The joyful colours at the start of the blog will make a Mediterranean space pop, especially with delicate use of terracotta and even golden yellows. Pure white will also act as the perfect backdrop for your Mediterranean decor.

We covered many of the most exciting interior design styles from many Mediterranean countries in our recent Rome to Rio series of blogs. Explore more there for a wealth of inspiration.

2022 was an excellent year for interior design, and we’re extremely excited to see what 2023 can do to be even more stylish! As always, we love seeing how our readers decorate their homes so why not tag us on Instagram and show off your trendy buys from Blinds Direct?
