Keep Your Home Cool This Summer With Thermal Blinds

Keep Your Home Cool This Summer With Thermal Blinds

While we may have come out of the first hot spell of the year, there will be plenty more in the coming weeks as we approach summer. When the summer sun starts pouring through the windows, keeping your home cool becomes very important. While air conditioning is effective, it’s not always energy-efficient and with bills going up and up, using more energy might not suit everyone – especially when you consider the environmental impact too. This is where thermal blinds come in – a smart, stylish way to block heat and lower energy costs.

How do thermal blinds work in summer?

Thermal blinds work by forming an effective barrier between your window and the room. In the winter, they considerably reduce heat from escaping via the windows but in the summer, this same technology limits the hot air from entering the space.

The result is that your home is cooler and more comfortable. When added to a bedroom window, thermal blinds will make the space more conducive to better sleep, helping you to enjoy the great night’s sleep that you deserve.

What are thermal blinds?

Thermal blinds are special window coverings designed with insulating materials that help regulate indoor temperature. There are three main types of thermal blinds. The first are blinds made using specialist thermal fabrics – including roller blinds, the second using innovative construction techniques to form cells that better insulate a space.

The third type are Roman blinds which can be upgraded with a free thermal blackout lining. This lining makes the blind thermally efficient while also adding blackout functionality to a window. This makes it the ideal choice for bedrooms and other spaces for relaxation!

Benefits of using thermal blinds in hot weather

There are four main benefits of adding thermal blinds to your windows ready for summer. They are:

  • Enhance privacy and reduce glare
  • Lower indoor temperatures making the room more comfortable when it getters hot outside
  • Reduce reliance on air conditioning which lowers energy use and makes your home more environmentally friendly
  • Save money on energy bills with less reliance on electronic temperature control

Tips for maximum effectiveness

While there are many inherent benefits to be enjoyed from thermal blinds, there are a few more steps you can take to make the most of their capabilities, and keep your room as cool as possible.

  • Keep blinds closed during peak sun hours (10 AM – 4 PM)
  • Use in conjunction with fans or natural ventilation to keep the air moving around the room
  • Choose light-coloured blinds to reflect more heat
  • Layer the window with thermal blinds and curtains with a thermal blackout lining for maximum thermal functionality

Thermal blinds are more than just a winter solution. When used right, they are a highly effective and visually pleasing way to beat the heat and reduce energy use. By taking the small step of adding thermal blinds to your windows, you can maximise your summer time relaxation in unparalleled style.
