We often suggest looking for interior design inspiration from nature, but “nature” is a deep and broad term covering a huge range of environments. With life returning to all locations with the start of spring, we’re today going to explore different natural hot spots and look at what inspiration you can take from them for your home!

Magnificent moors

Moorland is wonderful for rambling, finding cosy country pubs and of course its colours. Like forests, there is a wealth of interior design inspiration just waiting to be explored.

Some of the most beautiful colours in the world can be found upon the moors. From mossy greens and cool slate greys, all the way through to the ever so striking purples of wild heather, this environment is perfect for inspiring a space at the cutting edge of style. These colours can be used together very easily. Soft grey walls featuring purple curtains and green accessories create a room that feels harmonious and balanced, perfect for living spaces and bedrooms alike.

There are also animals in abundance to select from which make moors their homes. From noble stags to playful sheep, you can easily add either a traditional edge, or a bit of fun to your decor.

Fabulous forests

For a long time, people have enjoyed finding inspiration for their homes from the forests that covered much of the world. Today, forests are still seen as magical places brimming with excitement and the wonder of Mother Nature.

Let’s start with animals. Woodland animals have captured our imaginations for centuries, and you can find plenty of fabrics which capture the magnificence of these creatures as part of your interior design! There are fabrics featuring everything from foxes and pheasants to bees and dragonflies which add interesting shapes and colours into any space. There are also gorgeous woodland vistas showcasing trees, leaves and flowers.

Speaking of trees, you can add natural woods to your interiors via wooden Venetian blinds and shutters. To ensure forests can be enjoyed for generations to come, we only source natural woods from responsibly managed forests.

Rejuvenating rainforests

While not a natural environment many of us are directly familiar with in the UK, the world’s rainforests aren’t only the lungs of the plant, they’re brimming with colourful inspiration.

From its flora to its fauna, you can enjoy an explosion of colour and pattern to express your personality at home. Leaf print curtains for example are a wonderful foundation, as the swathes of fabric have an impactful appearance on the space, creating a visually dramatic look while keeping your home warm. In a rainforest, the density of the undergrowth can give us a sense of security, a perfect feeling for the home. To recreate this feeling of depth in our homes, try layering curtains with blinds.

The animal residents of rainforests are often as colourful and fun as the plant life. From brilliant birds of paradise to cheeky monkeys or stalking tigers, there are multiple animals you can add to a room. These are particularly excellent for young children’s bedrooms.

Chic coastlines

Millions of us find peace and happiness at the seaside every year. From the rolling beaches to the rockpools, these places have a mystical quality to them, but they are also fun!

When looking to the coast for interior design inspiration, there are again animals and colours to consider, but also the playful feeling or paddling in the sea, building sandcastles and flying kites. The coast provides amazing colour inspiration and showcases how nicely certain tones can work together. Think of the golden sands, shimmering blue of the sea and sky-blue set beside rolling greenery and the occasional stone cliff. These colours are equally beautiful in the home. Again, there is also a great selection of fun coastal animals that you can add into your home. Seagulls, shells and mussels are all available for consideration! You could even select patterns from the built seaside environment including colourful beach huts and boats.
