Christmas is over, the decorations are down, and while people have been busy filling their Instagram accounts with photos of paper hats, crackers and overflowing stockings, we’re back to seeing some lovely interiors. In the past four weeks we’ve been tagged in some truly awe-inspiring images from across the UK. As always, narrowing down these photos to the handful we’ll be looking at today has been a challenge, but these are our top picks from social media!

Our favourite social posts from January

January is a time of looking to the future and is full of hope. In the images below, you’ll enjoy a great feeling of freshness, and calm, the perfect combination of emotions for a bright year ahead. From comfortable neutrals to bold colours, this exciting collection is sure to excite and delight!

Going for green!

While a beautiful bathroom in its entirety, what caught our eye first in this space is of course the bold green walls. Green is one of those colours that’s flexible enough to work with an array of other shades and alongside fashionable interior design styles.

In this bathroom by @restore.at.number.4, the green has been used to offset the monochrome palette that fills the lower half of the space. With careful attention to detail from the black and white loo to the similarly coloured floor tiles and bath mat, this room makes great use of a dynamic design trend.

Tying the space together however is an ever-stylish Venetian blind. The chic white slats contrast beautifully with the black tapes which mask the strings that operate the blind. By introducing a spot of monochrome to the block green walls, and adding small green succulents to the windowsill, the whole space is instantly brought into harmony. It’s really amazing.

Mad for modern monochrome

For decades, monochrome interiors have been rightly celebrated as stylish and chic. This room design by @ournewbuild_avalon captures those feelings perfectly. With great use of colour and fabric, this bedroom is both fresh and fashionable.

The use of black and white bedding with elegant floral patterns adds a modern twist to an established classic, as do the black fluffy pillows! Complimenting the black shades are plenty of white spaces from the dominant bedding tones to the colours of the bedhead, the voile curtains and the elegant white Venetian blind, these white colours help the darker shades pop.

To add a foundation from which both colours can shine, the space makes superb use of grey as a supporting shade. The soft grey feature wall, where the window sits, helps the brilliant white Venetian blind to pop and add the full weight of its sophistication to the overall effect. We love it!

A calm and collected decor

Neutral colours are relaxing, warming and very comfortable. While a great addition to any space, they are particularly welcome in bedrooms where they can help us to unwind and switch off following a long day.

This bedroom from @lorisarah_home makes exceptional use of several natural shades with creams, warm greys, and minute spots of black as an accent colour. When combined with the white framed light source in the room, the cream shades feel richer and even more cosy. Moreover, @lorisarah_home has made great use of texture to add a tactile finish to the space. When combined with neutral tones, textured fabric becomes even more appealing and stylish.

Finally, this room has really mastered the use of shape and form in its design. The high ceilings with rectangular panelling and cornicing add lots of right angles which makes a quality roller blind the perfect choice for completing the look. It’s a 10/10 from us!

Delicate art deco design

Keeping with monochrome design, another fun way of styling a space is to add some 1920s flare with some soft, dark shades. Take for example this striking room set from @victorianhouse1896. It’s filled with well-chosen details, with little pops of flare and excitement added in a very tasteful way.

The core of the room is the dark shades used on the walls, bed, and curtains. Complemented with blush pinks, shades of white and warming cream tones used sparingly on the bed, this room takes a fun approach to monochrome design to ensure it is still exciting and appealing.

To enrich this youthful take on monochrome, @victorianhouse1896 has sought inspiration from the past and embraced elements from the 1920s. The shell lamp shade by the bed captures all elements of the design in one attractive accessory while the geometric pattern found on the bed throw also portrays a feeling of the 20s without adding anything too drastic. This is a really amazing space.
